Wisconsin Public Schools Support Staff Wages and Benefits Searchable Database
Wisconsin Public Schools Support Staff Wages and Benefits Database
There has been significant discussion and analysis regarding the high cost of Wisconsin public school teacher benefits packages. This high cost has been documented and the statistics are readily available online at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Statistical Information Center - School Staff and Salary Data. While this database lists all school staff, it only lists compensation data for instructional staff (teachers and administrators). Using information collected from an ongoing open records project, CRG Network has been slowly assembling the data necessary to fill in the hidden costs that remain unreported by the Wisconsin DPI. The preliminary data has revealed shocking benefits with numerous instances of benefits packages that exceed 100% of salary and several instances where they exceed 200%! After compiling and analyzing approximately 5% of Wisconsin's school districts (about 2000 school support staff employees) the decision was made to release this preliminary database as we continue to add information from the remaining districts. SPECIAL NOTE: Many public school support staff positions are non-unionized. In fact, it would be a major conflict of interest if administrative staff were members of a union. However, it is the considered opinion of CRG Network and widely acknowledged that collectively bargained union contracts “set the standard” by which all public sector employees are compensated (including politicians) and are therefore responsible for high benefit costs in the public sector regardless of union status.
